Our Books

Our book collection

The Library is still part of Leicestershire County Council's service - so most of our books are owned and looked after by the County, except for the Books on Prescription collection. We also buy books using section 106 monies, we choose these titles by asking customers what they would like to read and by looking at the best selling book lists. So far we have bought about 200 books and these have proved to be very popular. We have a large collection of children's books. We also work closely with our local primary school, Rothley C of E Academy and have a collection of books recommended by the school as titles that stretch and encourage young readers as part of a school reading initiative known as the Rothley Review. You can get a library card any time by popping in to the Library - bring some ID with you.

How to reserve and renew

You can borrow books for three weeks, and if nobody else is looking for them, you can renew them for longer. You can renew books online, using the PIN you will be given when you join, by phoning the Library, or by coming in. If you don't have a PIN, come in and we'll set one up for you. You can return a book to any county library, or through the letter box at ours. You can also borrow from our range of audio books for a small fee.

Beyond Rothley

You can also take advantage of the thousands of books held in libraries all over the County. For £1.00, you can ask for a book in the library catalogue to be delivered to our library, and we'll let you know when it arrives. You can explore the catalogue here, and make a reservation online using your library PIN. You can also borrow from the Leicestershire Library Services collection of e-books. If you'd like help, come into the Library and ask.
