We are also running a family village trail, maps available for £2 with clues that guide you around the village - answers and refreshments available back at the library!

The Library is currently financed by fundraising undertaken by volunteers. We need to raise approximately £14,000 a year to keep the library open and this amount is likely to increase due to energy costs.  Current fundraising activities include selling refreshments, holding second-hand book sales, affiliations to EasyFundraising (details on the banner above) and the Charnwood Community Lottery (details below), organising raffles and coffee mornings. In the past we have also ran open air cinema evenings and have hosted a village scarecrow trail since 2022.
As well as supporting us by coming along to events, we are always grateful for help behind the scenes with fundraising and funding applications, so if you are interested please contact us! Through the efforts of volunteers we are very grateful to have secured some very generous donations including £2,880.00 from the Harry Hames Cottage Trust which enabled us to fund a new photocopier to replace an obsolete model which could no longer be supported, £1500.00 from the Barrett Homes foundation and £500.00 from the congregations of St Theresa's and Sacred Heart.
Donations of money are also very welcome - these can be made using either the donation box in the library, which is next to the main entrance door to the library, using the gift aid envelopes or making a donation online using the 'make a donation' link on this page.  Donations of good quality second-hand books are also always welcome, these are sold to raise funds towards our running costs. We cannot accept magazines or Annuals of any kind as they tend not to sell.
To support us via the weekly Charnwood Community Lottery (further details on how the lottery has been set up are below) you just need to choose Rothley Community Library as your nominated charity.  To find out more just click the Charnwood Community Lottery button below.  Approximately 20 supporters of the library currently take part in the lottery and over the course of a year that will raise a little over £500 which will be put towards the running costs of the library - many thanks to our existing Charnwood Lottery supporters!

The  lottery is currently subscribed to by over 40 local causes in the Charnwood area, including community libraries, swimming clubs, history groups, scout groups, play groups, community centres, village halls and choirs.  The sum of 50p from each £1 spent on the lottery goes to the nominated cause of the individual buying the ticket. Every ticket has a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize each week.  That's a better chance of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery. The prizes range from 3 free tickets, £25, £250, £2,000 and the top prize is £25,000!  The draw happens every Saturday night and you get notified by email if you have won and with the draw results.
